Admission to RECTAS Programmes
Application form for Programmes is available at our website: www.rectas.org. The deadline for submission of form is 29th June African countries need critical mass of geo-information science and technology experts to drive their rapid development through appropriate and responsible use of geospatial information. The Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS) was established in 1972 under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) as an educational “one-stop” solution institution that trains highly skilled manpower in the science and technology of geospatial information. RECTAS is located within the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Its programmes are designed to extend the frontiers of education and scientific research in Geographic Information Science fields (photogrammetry and remote sensing, geographic information systems, and cartography) to enhance the benefits derived from the technology in various disciplines; decision making and good governance in member states of RECTAS in particular and African nations in general.
Administration Hall Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for admission into the following academic programmes. All programmes commence on 1st October each year. Academic Programmes 1- TD (Technologist diploma) in Geo-information production and management. Duration is 18 months (available in English and French). 2- PM (Professional Masters) in Geoinformation production and management. Duration is 12 months (available in English and French). 3- EM (Executive Masters) in Geoinformation production and management. A weekend (part-time) programme. Duration is 18 months (English only). 4- M.Tech. in Geo-information Technology (offered in collaboration with Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria) but students are domicile at RECTAS. Duration is 18 months (English only). 5- MSc. in Geoinformation Science (offered in collaboration with University of Abomey-Calavi, Republic of Benin) but students are domicile at RECTAS). Duration is 18 months (French only). 6- MSc in Cartography and Geoinformation Science. Duration is 18months (available in English and French). 7- PhD in (a) Geoinformation Science. (b) Cartography & Geo-visualisation. Duration 2-4 years (available in English and French).

Note: Candidate applying for masters or PhD programme should submit with the application form a 1 page A4 size, single space and 12 pts format proposal of the expected focus of study or research. Each candidate may be invited for interview to explain the proposal, funding and other requirements before admission is granted.
